Create a customized shower system with the Aquabrass N1206 1/2-Inch Single-Outlet Shower Shut-Off Rough-In Valve. Designed for concealed installation behind the finished shower wall, this Shower Shut-Off Rough-In Valve provides independent on-and-off control for one connected shower function, making it suitable for bathrooms with individually controlled water outlets.
The N1206 receives pre-mixed water from an upstream thermostatic or pressure-balance mixing valve. It can control a rainhead, handshower, body-jet system, tub spout, or another compatible fixture. Multiple N1206 valves can be incorporated into a custom shower design when separate controls are desired for individual outlets.
Unlike a shower diverter, the N1206 does not redirect water between multiple fixtures. It controls only its connected outlet and does not regulate water temperature. A separate mixing valve is therefore required to supply appropriately tempered water before it reaches the shut-off valve.
Constructed from solid brass, this Shower Shut-Off Rough-In Valve includes a ceramic shut-off cartridge designed for smooth operation. The cartridge, identified by Aquabrass as ABCA82220, provides the internal mechanism for opening and closing water flow to the selected shower outlet.
Standard 1/2-inch NPT female inlet and outlet connections allow the valve to integrate with compatible shower plumbing. Aquabrass specifies a flow rate of 10.5 gallons per minute at 45 PSI. Maximum flow can reach up to 18 gallons per minute, depending on the capacity of the upstream supply valve and available plumbing conditions.
The concealed valve is installed between wall studs with suitable plywood backing before the finished shower wall is completed. Its adjustable installation depth accommodates different wall constructions, making it suitable for both new bathroom installations and renovation projects.
The permitted installation depth ranges from 1-1/16 inches to 3 inches, with a recommended depth of 2-3/8 inches to 2-3/4 inches. A 2-1/4-inch diameter opening is required in the finished wall to accommodate the cartridge and decorative trim.
The N1206 includes the concealed brass valve body and ceramic cartridge. Compatible Aquabrass decorative trim and a matching handle are required to complete the installation and are sold separately. Mounting screws are not included.
Professional installation by a qualified plumber is recommended to ensure correct valve positioning, secure mounting, appropriate plumbing connections, and compatibility with the upstream mixing valve. Aquabrass provides a two-year manufacturer warranty for residential and commercial applications.
